Building 5 Honey Locust Barn Doors - From logs to finished product

Posted by Ethan Morford on

Here is a very fun custom project we completed back in 2023. This was truly from log to finished product.  5 custom, solid honey locust barn doors.
We did the whole process, from hauling the honey locust logs off of the homeowners' property, to sawing them up into boards, to kiln drying, and then construction of the custom barn doors. These five barn doors were built for their new custom home, using logs harvested directly from their land. We handle every step of the process, from saw milling to custom building, ensuring quality and sustainability throughout.
We used a semi-dark gray stain on the doors, per customer request. This is very rewarding to see a project like this come together—transforming raw materials into functional, beautiful pieces that fit perfectly into their space.
At Hazel Oak Farms, we're passionate about turning local wood into custom creations. If you have trees on your property you'd like to repurpose or need barn doors tailored to your home, contact us today. We're ready to handle your project from start to finish.
Starting to cut the honey locust logs on our woodmizer sawmill.
All cut, heading into the kiln for 2 months
Out of the kiln, now ready to plane up and start working.
1st out of 5 barn doors complete. Now onto sanding and staining.
Sanded and then stained with a medium grey stain.
Done!
Off to deliver 2 of the 5 doors.
